Swan on the mark at Fairyhouse

Amateur rider Harry Swan partnered the last of trainer Gordon Elliott’s three winners at Fairyhouse on Tuesday.

In the Gigginstown House Stud silks, he landed the concluding bumper on the five-year-old Search For Glory. Swan had an easy time of it in the saddle as he brought the well-supported favourite home a four and three-parts of a length winner from the Ellmarie Holden-trained Zaidi.

Elliott had earlier shared two winners, Harmonya Maker and favourite Gerri Colombe, with Jack Kennedy.

While beaten on favourites Potters Party and Senior Chief in the opening two races at Clonmel on Thursday, Rachael Blackmore bounced back to capture the two-mile handicap hurdle with Clifton Warrior. The Henry de Bromhead-trained six-year-old led early in the home straight and raced clear to beat the Eoin McCarthy-trained Blanketontheground by five lengths in the colours of the Warriors Syndicate.

Trainer Denis Hogan scored a narrow success at Dundalk on Friday where the Playground Syndicate-owned Jaafel won the opening division of the eight-furlong apprentice handicap. Ridden by Daniel King, the 7/2 chance didn’t enjoy the clearest of run in the straight but he flew home to land the spoils by a neck from the Ado McGuinness-trained favourite Leclerc.

Shane Crosse partnered the Edward Lynam-trained Marsa to her fifth career success when taking the seven-furlong rated race. In the colours of owners Marita Rogers and Sabina Power, the 8/1 chance raced prominently under Shane Crosse from her wide draw and she held off a host of rivals from the furlong pole to score by a neck from the Joseph O'Brien-trained favourite Hotrocket with Benavente, ridden by the winning jockey’s brother Nathan, a nose away in third place.
