Funding for TUS welcomed
Limerick City and North Tipperary Fine Gael TD, Kieran O’Donnell welcomed the announcement by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris, that as part of a total overall national funding stream of €23.47 million, the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (TUS) including TUS Limerick is receiving €4.5 million in Technological University Transformation Funding (TUTF) to support its ongoing development in a range of areas such as its digital infrastructure and for building capacity in research to further grow investment and jobs in the Mid-West region.
“I very much welcome this announcement by Further and Higher Education Minister, Simon Harris of over €4.5 million in funding to the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (TUS) including TUS Limerick under the “Technological University Transformation” Fund (TUTF) to support its ongoing development in a range of areas such as its digital infrastructure and for building capacity in research to further grow investment and jobs in the Mid-West region.
“Having previously lectured in LIT and as a proud Limerick person, I am pleased to see this further transformation funding being announced, marking another important milestone in the continued development and enhancement of our new Technological University in Limerick.
“This TUS allocation will be used in key areas such as digital infrastructure, building capacity in research, and in improving governance and systems integration, and forms part of an overall fund of €23.47 million to the five technological universities in Transformation funding which has seen €60 million already invested.
