Funding for mid-west playground project
Limerick City Fine Gael TD Kieran O’Donnell along with his Fine Gael colleague and local Castleconnell based, Cllr Michael Murphy have welcomed the €20,000 funding allocation by Limerick City & County Council to get the Castleconnell Playground extension project underway, with appointment of consultants to design a major extension to Castleconnell playground. This funding was granted as part of the Development Contribution Scheme 2022 Allocations. This follows on-going engagement by Deputy O’Donnell and Councillor Murphy with local residents and Limerick City and County Council to ensure that funding for this project was secured.
“Along with my colleague and local Castleconnell based Fine Gael Councillor, Michael Murphy, we are delighted that following our ongoing engagement and representations to Limerick City and County Council, €20,000 has been allocated to get the Castleconnell Playground extension Project underway, with appointment of consultants to design a major extension to Castleconnell playground located at the Ferrybank.
“This project is something we have been working on extensively with local residents and families to ensure there is a playground in Castleconnell Village that can accommodate the growing populations of families and children in the area. Whilst the current playground has served the area over time, there is now a great need for a major extension to be carried out at Castleconnell Playground.
“The first step required here is for Limerick City and County Council to appoint consultants for the design of the playground extension. We will be looking to ensure that there is public consultation with local residents and families as part of this design process. We will continue to follow-up with Limerick City and County Council to ensure the extension project works get underway as quickly as possible.
“When completed, this will be a great enhancement to the playground in Castleconnell which we are sure will be greatly enjoyed by families and children."
