Swan among the winners at two-day Tipperary card

Trainer Joe Murphy set Kildare jockey Gary Carroll up for a treble when sending out Pandora Lovegood to win the opening two-year-old auction series maiden at Roscommon on Tuesday.
In the colours of owner Tony Auld, the favourite made much of the running and went clear from the two-furlong pole to score by five lengths, easily the widest winning-margin of the session, from the John O’Donoghue-trained Texas Boy.
Carroll secured a second winner straight away as he took the fillies’ maiden over the extended seven furlongs on the Joe Murray-trained Girl Crush and his treble was completed on the Gavin Cromwell-trained Dha Leath in the 10-furlong handicap.
Denis Hogan and Sean Bowen combined to win the apprentice handicap over the same trip with Dutch Schaefer. The Premier Racing Club-owned four-year-old overcame an unfavourably wide draw as she held off the Ger O’Leary-trained Princess Sela by a neck.
Donnacha O'Brien and Gavin Ryan shared two winners on the card at Tipperary on Wednesday. They combined to take the Listed Coolmore Ten Sovereign Stakes with the Atlantic Thoroughbreds-owned Wodao which made much of the running and held off the Jessica Harrington-trained Ardad’s Great by a nose. Aidan O'Brien’s The Antarctic, the favourite, was a shorthead away in third place.
La Dolce Vita completed the double with a narrow success in the conditions’ race over the extended seven furlongs. The favourite led inside the final furlong and held the running-on Hans Andersen by three-parts of a length.
Burnchurch trainer Martin Hassett landed a narrow success of his own as Harry’s Hill took the five-furlong apprentice handicap. Ridden by Scott McCullagh, the Tipp Ramblers Partnership-owned four-year-old held on to beat the Gillian Scott-trained Inventor by a shorthead.
Joey Sheridan had lost out in a photo-finish in the opening conditions’ race but he took the nine-furlong handicap on Aristovic which is owned in partnership by her breeder David Spratt and Kevin McMunigal. A well-supported chance, the Johnny Levins-trained led over a furlong from the finish to beat the Austin Leahy-trained Linger For Longer by a neck, the same margin Sheridan had been beaten earlier in the evening.
Amateur rider Harry Swan was among the winners at Tipperary on Thursday where Delightfantastic scored a runaway success in the two-mile handicap hurdle. Trained by John Joe Walsh for owner John Roche, the seven-year-old easily justified his odds of favourite when racing away from the second last flight to win by all of twelve lengths.
Shane Crosse added to Joseph O'Brien’s haul when partnering Lakota Seven to take the median sires series maiden over eight furlongs at Bellewstown on Friday. An odds-on favourite, the two-year-old raced to a two and a half-length success over the Jessica Harrington-trained Roman Hands in the colours of the Magnolia Racing Syndicate.
Aidan O'Brien was also a winner on the evening as the Seamie Heffernan-ridden Perotan won the fillies’ maiden. She had loads in hand as she beat the Ger Lyons-trained Isotta by a length and three-parts with Ballydoyle’s favourite Ark a neck away in third place.
O'Brien and Heffernan were winners again with favourite Auguste Rodin at Naas on Saturday.
Holycross trainer John Burke gave conditional jockey Niall Moore his first winner in Ireland as Our Bobby won the two-mile handicap hurdle at Wexford on Friday.
In the colours of the trainer’s daughter Elaine, the well-supported 13/2 chance led after second last hurdle and ran out a six-length winner from the Leslie Young-trained favourite He’s Leading Me On.
Moore, from Gortnahoe, said: “I rode three winners when I was with Evan Williams but this is my first back home. I’ve had great support from the Burkes who are second cousins of mine. They got me into racing. Julie is home from America and I’ve learned loads from her.”
Rachael Blackmore and Henry de Bromhead were successful with another fancied runner as Champagne Gold landed the beginners’ chase over two and a half-miles, but in very different fashion. The Barry Maloney-owned favourite headed the Noel Meade-trained Everglow on the run in and prevailed by a neck at the line.
Joey Sheridan rode his second winner in the week for trainer Johnny Levins as the Saffron Star Syndicate-owned Showmolina scored a one and a quarter-length victory in the opening division of the apprentice handicap at Naas on Saturday. The 7/1 shot led in the closing stage to beat the Jennifer Lynch-trained Clara’s Approach by a length and a quarter.
The day ended with success for the father and son team of Andy & Andrew Slattery who landed the 10-furlong handicap with Heather Bear. In the colours of Dr Ronan Tynan, the 8/1 chance made much of the running to beat the Bill Farrell-trained Rotolo by half a length to add to her 50/1 success in a maiden at Gowran Park at the beginning of last month.
Harry Swan rounded off the Bellewstown summer festival with a win in the bumper onboard the Gordon Elliott-trained Country Queen on Saturday. The 13/2 chance edged to her left at the furlong pole but stayed on strongly to beat Willie Mullins’ favourite Uncle Phil by three lengths to the delight of the Keep Smiling Syndicate.
