Elderly encouraged to reach out for support if needed

ALONE, the organisation that supports older people to age at home, has encouraged older people in Tipperary to reach out for support if they need it, in view of the sad case coming to light in the county this week.

ALONE is reminding older people that their supports, including visitation Support & Befriending and telephone Support & Befriending, are available to older people throughout the county.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns, some older people sadly became more isolated from their neighbours, communities and the supports they needed,” said Seán Moynihan, CEO of ALONE. “This is a terribly sad case. We extend our sympathies to the family and friends of those involved.”

“We would also like to remind older people in Tipperary that you are not alone. Our national support and referral line for older people is available from 8am-8pm, seven days a week, on 0818 222 024 if you would like some support. Anything from a chat to practical support around housing, grant and entitlement issues , ALONE are happy and here to help.”
