Bodies of elderly couple found in Tipp

Gardaí are investigating all circumstances following the discovery of two bodies on Monday in Cloneen, which is situated between Fethard and Mullinahone.

The bodies of an elderly man and elderly woman were found at a domestic residence earlier on Monday afternoon.

The scene remains preserved at this time and an examination by the Garda Technical Bureau will take place later this evening. The offices of the State Pathologist have been notified.

Early indications suggest both bodies were undiscovered for a period of time.

It is believed the bungalow was occupied by a couple who were not originally from the Cloneen area but had lived there for the last few years. It is understood there is no indication that foul play was involved at the moment.

The investigation into the deaths is being led by gardaí in Clonmel.
