Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship: The second round of The Watch Centre sponsored North Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship took place weekend.

A Gavin McAvinchy goal only seconds into the game helped settle Kilruane but Toomevara responded well with the aid of the breeze in the first half to go into the half time break leading 1-11 to 1-7 with Shane Nolan scoring the Toome goal.

The second half was a tit for tat affair with the sides level on six different occasions in the half. A Shane Nolan 65 two minutes from the end of time proved to be the winning score for Toomevara as Kilruane were unable to find the equaliser. Final Score – Toomevara 1-19 Kilruane MacDonaghs 1-18. Nolan finished with 1-8 for Toomevara with Eoin Carroll top scoring for Kilruane with 0-9 whilst Eanna Hogan, Tomas Hogan and Paddy Ryan were Kilruane’s best performers.

In the other fixture in the group, Nenagh Eire Og conceded a walkover to Borris-Ileigh. Borris-Ileigh currently sit on top of the group with four points, Toomevara and Kilruane MacDonaghs are level on two points each whilst Nenagh Eire Og and Roscrea are still to register points in the group. The top four teams will progress to the semi-finals.

The round 3 fixtures see Roscrea and Kilruane MacDonaghs face off on Thursday 16th June at 7.45pm in Toomevara whilst on Friday 24th June, Toomevara will play Nenagh Eire Og in Borrisoleigh at 7.30pm.

Junior ‘B’ Hurling League: Willie Keogh inspired Silvermines to a 0-16 to 0-13 win over Lorrha last Saturday in Dolla in the semi-final of the North Junior ‘B’ Hurling League. Keogh’s haul of 0-11 with nine frees was key to the Silvermines win. Martin Gorman scored 0-8 (5 frees) for Lorrha but the Lower Ormond side’s shooting proved to be their downfall with a large amount of wides hit throughout the game.

The second semi-final takes place this Wednesday (June 15th) as Borrisokane take on Ballina in Borrisokane at 7.00pm.

The final is fixed for this Saturday at 7.00pm in Toomevara. It’s important to note that admission to the final is via ticket only and are available to purchase online (please check out the North Tipperary GAA Social Media pages for link).

Junior ‘B’ Hurling Championship: The first round of The Watch Centre sponsored North Junior ‘B’ Hurling Championship will commence this coming weekend.

In Group 1 – the Nenagh Eire Og v Borrisokane game is provisionally fixed for this Saturday 18th June at 7.00pm but will be pushed out if Borrisokane win their league semi-final against Ballina (which takes place this Wednesday). Lorrha host Knockshegowna on Friday 24th June at 7.00pm.

Group 2 will see Templederry Kenyons host Newport on Monday 20th June at 7.00pm whilst the Portroe v Silvermines game scheduled to take place in Portroe will go ahead on the evening of Friday 24th.

In Group 3 – Kiladangan will host Moneygall this Saturday at 7.00pm in Puckane. The Ballina v Shannon Rovers game is provisionally fixed for this Saturday 18th at 7.00pm in Ballina but will be pushed out if Ballina win their league semi-final against Borrisokane.

County League: A number of North sides were victorious in last weekends County League Hurling Finals.

Burgess claimed the Dr Fogarty Cup after a 2-12 to 1-14 win over Ballina in the Division 3 County Hurling League Final.

Borrisokane won the James Holohan Cup after a 2-17 to 2-16 win over Moyle Rovers in the Division 4 County Hurling League Final while Knockshegowna claimed the Pauline Coonan Cup after a 1-14 to 0-10 win over Thurles Gaels in the Division 6 County Hurling League Final. aWell done to all three teams whilst commiserations to Ballina.
