Tipp’s Roz launches mini marathon

Tipperary’s Roz Purcell launched the 2022 Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon at Killiney Hill, Co Dublin. The event, now in its 40th year, will take place on Sunday June 5, the first physical event to take place since 2019 for those who wish to walk, jog or run the 10km route through Dublin City Centre.

The 2022 Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon is the 40th year of the event and will be a celebration of togetherness, and whether you participate with friends, family or do it solo, you’ll be part of a special community. The event has also been instrumental in helping hundreds of charities raise money for their causes. It is estimated that over €226 million has been raised for charities since the event began in 1983.

Roz Purcell will take part in the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon along with thousands of other women, all of whom will get to experience that special “finish line feeling” on June 5.

Vhi understands how difficult it can be to fit training into a hectic lifestyle and has teamed up with Roz alongside other inspirational partners to help you prepare for the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon in a manageable way. Between now and June 5, follow @VhiWMM on social or visit vhiwomensminimarathon.ie for training plans tailored to all fitness levels, nutrition support and much more.

This year the event celebrates 40 years of #WomenMakingMagic and is inviting Tipperary women to share the magic to mark this significant milestone in the event’s history.

This year, for the first time, the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon will take place as a hybrid event, meaning the event is offering both physical and virtual options for participants who wish to take part in the 10km from anywhere in the country (or world!). A limited number of entries for the virtual event will open after Easter.

David O’Leary, General Manager, Women’s Mini Marathon, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to be back this year with our physical event, allowing women from across the country to come together once more and enjoy the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon. It’s a particularly special year for us, as we celebrate the 40th year of this national institution. We were overwhelmed with the response to our virtual events over the past two years, which saw thousands of women taking part in locations all over the country, but this year we can’t wait to have everyone join us as we return to the streets of Dublin. We hope women all over Ireland will join us this June to celebrate the special milestone of our 40th year.”

Brighid Smyth, Head of Corporate Communications in Vhi, commented: “The 2022 Vhi WMM will celebrate togetherness, and whether you participate with friends, family, colleagues or solo you’ll be part of a special community.

The event has also been instrumental in helping hundreds of charities raise money for their causes and we are really proud to be the title sponsor especially for this milestone anniversary. We are really excited to come together again and enjoy this iconic event in person.
