Rubbish dumped in Ballycommon

Gardaí are investigating the dumping of around 20 bags of rubbish at Carhue, Ballycommon.

It is believed the bags were dumped some time after 6pm last Thursday. Gardaí are investigating the matter with Tipperary Co Council.

The photo on the left shows rubbish dumped at Carhue, Ballycommon, last Thursday night and the other, taken on Monday morning, shows the area after the county council had removed the rubbish. Local residents had to rebag the rubbish, which was emptied around the area.

The gardaí were called and responded immediately and worked with the council to arrange for the rubbish to be removed. From evidence obtained at the scene, the authorities expect to be able to bring a successful prosecution.

Local residents would like to express their gratitude to the gardaí and the council for their excellent response and to appeal to the public to respect local environments and report illegal dumping to the authorities immediately.
