Denis Hogan launches Borrisoleigh School Equestrian Club
A new Equestrian Club at St Joseph’s College Borrisoleigh was launched by trainer and jockey Denis Hogan.
At the launch, the Cloughjordan native provided a very insightful talk to over twenty club members on developing a career in the equine industry.
He spoke about his life as a trainer at Modreeny, and the skills required to juggle all aspects of managing a very busy yard. He shared with those present what skills and characteristics he looks for when recruiting staff.
Denis also spoke about initially becoming a jockey and how his passion for horses turned into a career. He discussed the level of commitment and hard work needed to make a viable career in racing in Ireland.
Following his talk, students asked a variety of questions to Denis, ranging from his most notable successes to date, to who he considers his toughest opponent in the saddle is.
The Equestrian Club are extremely grateful to Denis for giving up his afternoon and making the trip to Borrisoleigh.
