Nenagh Snooker Open returns after two-year absence

The Nenagh Snooker Open returns this weekend, Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th November.

The now annual event, although cancelled last year due to Covid-19, is run by Nenagh Institute Snooker Club, has gone from strength to strength in recent years, particularly with its base at the Clubs Rooms on Friar Street where there will be a feast of snooker this weekend with play beginning at 10.00am on Saturday with the knockout stages being played on Sunday.

Once again, the event will boast an entry of over forty top amateur players from all over Ireland. Ex-professional Davy Morris is returning as defending champion for the past two Opens, but will have stiff competition, including Nenagh's own Brendan O'Donoghue, three-time Irish amateur champion and current Irish number 1.

Michael Judge, 2019 UK Senior Open champion will also be competing as will Ireland’s current European champions, Mark Tuite, and Frank Sarsfields.

One of the most exciting up and coming players in the country, Aaron Hill, will also be taking part, the Cork man having defeated Ronnie O’Sullivan in the European Masters earlier this year.

The Nenagh Open is one of the more favoured invitationals on the Irish snooker calendar due to the fantastic Nenagh town hospitality and the excellent playing conditions created by the fundraising efforts of the Nenagh Institute Snooker Club Committee, with the help of Tipperary County Council, who have provided a grant towards the running of the tournament.
