Two face sexual assault charges

Two men charged with seperate incidents of sexual assault in a town in North Tipperary appeared before Judge Mary Cashin at a sitting of Nenagh District Court on Friday last.

The two men, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had Books of Evidence served on them by the State and were sent forward for trial to the current sittings of Nenagh Circuit Criminal Court sitting this week.

One of the cases involved sexual assault on May 13 last. That defendant, who is in his early 30s and currently in prison, was also sent forward to the higher court in relation to charges of theft and assault causing harm, which he allegedly committed beweeen May 12-13 this year. He was remanded in custody.

In relation to the other case, the alleged sexual assault was said to have taken place in the same town on March 10 2019. The defendant is in his late 30s. He was remanded on bail in his own bond of €500 under strict conditions.
