Nenagh Eire Og 2-14

Silvermines 2-18

Silvermines and Nenagh Eire Og played out a hugely exciting game in the County Senior Camogie Championship on Saturday with the ‘Mines leaving MacDonagh Park with a two-point win.

The rain poured down while the girls warmed up, but this didn’t impact a high-scoring and hugely entertaining encounter between two local rivals.

Nenagh were a goal up at the first water-break but the ‘Mines out-scored them 0-7 to 0-3 in the second quarter and led by the narrowest of margins at half time.

Katie Murphy and Émer Tuohy came on at the break and a goal in the second half by Niamh Cunneen steadied the ‘Mines’ ship and stretched their lead with a great spread of scoring amongst the team from both frees and play.

Nenagh though worked hard to reduce the deficit and at the second half water break four points separated the sides 1-14 to 1-10.

A second goal from Elaine Murphy put Silvermines firmly in the driving seat again and killed a lot of good Nenagh momentum. A late goal by Grace O’Brien reduced the final margin to four points.

For Nenagh Grace O’Brien, Eva O’Brien, Caroline Browne, Zoe Grattan, and Rachel Maher caught the eye.
