Transforming the town of Borrisokane

The recently elected Cathaoirleach of Nenagh Municipal District, Cllr Michael O’Meara has met with the Tidy Towns group and volunteers to assess the impact of the redevelopment of the Main Street.

“The general consensus is positive and while there has been a reduction in the amount of parking spaces, which may need extra work, the finished product looks extremely well,” says Cllr O’Meara.

“Businesses in the town have seen somewhat of an increase in business with some new retailers opening in Borrisokane since the work has finished.

“The town has a major advantage being on two national routes with more people now stopping and I put this down to the fact that Borrisokane is now an extremely attractive town to shop in or for leisure activities. We as councillors, past and present, have lobbied hard for this regeneration scheme and including the storm water drainage and pavement and road surface with the project seeing an investment in Borrisokane of almost €4 million over the past seven years.”
