Silvermines launch new GAA EuroMillions fundraiser

Silvermines GAA are encouraging as many people as possible to get involved with this year’s EuroMillions fundraiser in a bid to raise much-needed funds for the club.

All aspects of the Silvermines GAA Club have joined together to organise a fundraiser as a grand syndicate to take part in the EuroMillions Lotto for the next twelve months and are appealing for support before membership closes in advance of the first draw.

On top of the EuroMillions draw the club will also host a special quarterly draw for all subscribers with a CCTV security package on offer for in October, a tractor trailer load of Timber at Christmas time, a STIHL I-Mow robotic awnmower at Easter and a €200 Voucher for a local business next June

The monies raised will be used primarily for the upkeep and development of the pitches at Dolla and to cover the day-to-day expenses of running of Dolla GAA grounds, which exceeds the 25k mark annually.

Funds raised will also go towards the further expansion of the club’s burgeoning facilities with plans in place to construct two new dressing rooms, an indoor training area, and to improve the handball court and viewing area together with all ancillary works in bid to enhance the overall experience of every club.

The EuroMillions will be entered into twice weekly for 52 weeks. It will give all participants 624 chances of winning for a one-off payment of €20. Tickets are still on sale from all players, committee members and online at www.silverminesgaa.com.

Club Chairperson Colm Maher said raising funds in these tough times is primarily geared at ensuring Dolla is kept open for one and all together with keeping a close eye on the future development of the club.

“We know that this past year and a half has taken its toll on a lot of people but here in Dolla we have a fantastic community facility which can be used by all and provides a recreational outlet for the entire community,” he said.

“Our walking track is in daily constant use as are our pitches but to keep Dolla operating it takes a lot of work from our excellent committee and a lot of yearly investment. I would like to thank everyone who has already supported us in this venture and with only a week or so to go we are making one big final effort to have as many people involved in our syndicate as possible.

“We are hoping for a big push in sales in this final week before the draws commence and I would encourage anyone who has had oks of tickets to sell to get their books back to us as soon as possible. We have had a great response so far and it would be great if our syndicate did happen to land a big jackpot. It could very well happen and it would be a pity not to be a part of it. For just 20 euro our syndicate will be entered twice weekly for the next 52 weeks.”

Silvermines GAA Club has gone from strength to strength over the past number of years with in excess of 500 members from all facets of the club, the senior club, juvenile club, camogie club handball club and ladies football club, while the club also caters for the wider community with the fantastic walking track facilities in Dolla.
