Lotto draw could be worth €12.5m

Could we see a new National Lottery millionaire being made this weekend? The current Lotto jackpot has been rolling since Wednesday, June 9, with Saturday night’s jackpot heading towards an estimated €12.5 million.

So far this year, the Lotto jackpot has been won in Limerick, Kilkenny, Westmeath, Cork and Galway. A potential winner of tomorrow night’s jackpot would become the second largest jackpot winner of 2021.

The National Lottery are reminding players hoping to become the 6th Lotto jackpot winner of the year to continue to follow public health guidelines while purchasing their tickets ahead of tomorrow night’s draw.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “It could be a big weekend for one lucky Lotto player! The excitement for tomorrow night’s draw is growing as the jackpot continues to roll. We could potentially see a new National Lottery millionaire being made after the Saturday night draw meaning that one person in Ireland could have 12.5 million reasons to celebrate. Ahead of tomorrow’s draw, we are continuing to remind our Lotto players that the cut-off time for ticket sales is 7.45pm on Saturday evening and that tickets can be purchased in-store, in-app or at www.lottery.ie.”

Meanwhile, the Cork player who scooped the top prize of €250,000 in the Lotto Plus 2 draw on 28th July was delighted to officially claim their prize. The winning ticket was purchased in Centra Millstreet at West End in Millstreet, Co. Cork.

The Rebel county player was quick to realise their good fortune after the draw: “I checked the ticket after the draw and knew immediately that I had won. To say it was a shock is an understatement, but it certainly was the best type of shock, that’s for sure! Reality only really started to sink in when I saw all the zeroes on the cheque. It’s only now that I can start to think about what to do next.”

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language. In total more than €6 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 34 years ago. In 2020 alone, €254 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
