Successful golf classic run by Nenagh Lions Club
July event benefits local charity CARMHA
Nenagh Lions Club held their annual charity golf outing at Nenagh Golf Club on Sunday, July 25. The event was well supported and the four ball scramble format led to a very popular and enjoyable outing.
The course was in excellent condition, which was reflected in the many fine scores returned on the day. Many thanks to the management committee of Nenagh Golf Club for the usage of their course, which was in pristine condition due to the diligence of management and the course maintenance staff.
On the score front first place went to Leo Moyles, Matt Gleeson, John McLoughney and Tom Hogan with 111 points. In second place was Eamon Byrne, Chris Middleton, Pat Foley and Oliver Killeen on 110 points. Third place went to Eamon Callanan, Eugene Fitzpatrick, Jimmy Bourke and Michael Tierney on 109 points. The ladies prize was won by Breda Fitzgibbon, Marie Corrigan, Bernie Meagher and Joan Garahy with a score of 99 points.
Prizes for the main event were very kindly donated by Breda and Eoin Fitzgibbon of BREO Jewellers and Jim McLoughney Menswear. Several other spot prizes were generously donated by other business personnel and members of the public.
The proceeds from the golf outing will be given to a local charitable organisation CARMHA, whose members do wonderful work with young people in the areas of substance abuse and mental health care.
Many thanks to Nenagh Lions golf sub committee for organising the event, whose members were ably assisted on the day by an army of supporters including Lions Club members and supporters from various organisations which have benefitted from the charity's support over the years.
