Intermediate League Final:

Newport/Ballinahinch 4-6 Kilruane MacDonaghs 1-9

Newport/Ballinahinch were crowned County Intermediate Camogie League champions following a six-point win over Kilruane MacDonaghs in the final played at the Ragg on Saturday.

Kilruane MacDonaghs played with a strong breeze in the first half but were behind 1-3 to 0-4 at the first water break with a Keely Lenihan goal helping Newport to a lead.

After a closely fought first half, Newport led 1-5 to 0-6 at half-time with Lenihan contributing another two points plus points from Alannah Mullaney and a Saoirse McGrath free adding to the Newport score.

After half time, Kilruane's Maria Hogan laid off a great ball to Lisa Cahill who soloed through and finished to the net. The sides were level at the second water break 2-5 to 1-8 but goals win matches and in a wind-assisted second half Newport's Emma Flanagan scored two and Shauna Curtin added a late goal to seal Newport's win.

For Kilruane, Lisa Cahill contributed 1-3 and Leanne O’Kelly scoring two points from play and Amy Quinlisk accurate from several frees.

Junior ‘A’ League Final: Brian Borus 1-12 Templemore 3-3

On the evening which saw the re-opening of the newly drained and reseeded Camogie Grounds at The Ragg, Brian Borus claimed the County Junior ‘A’ League title on Friday.

Brian Borus started brightly with the Templemore keeper making a few vital saves to keep Templemore in the match. Templemore hit the post just before half time but ‘Borus’ dominated the first half with points by their top scorer Caoimhe Ryan, Mary Barrett and Aisling Ryan and their goal by Alannah English as they raced into a 1-9 to 0-1 half time lead.

In the second half, Ruth Butler hit a long range free with Kate Cashman finishing it to the net. This was followed by the Templemore full forward Iris Kaiser scoring two goals putting the Mid girls right back into the game.

Points by Ruth Butler and Katie Bourke brought Templemore back within a score with a Shauna Lang point and a crucial save by Lauren O’Brien for Brian Borus helped them to their first adult title.

Under 16 Munster Blitz: In Ballyduff, Co. Kerry, Tipperary played Limerick, Cork, and Kerry in the round robin games. The top two emerging were Tipperary and Cork with Tipp beating Cork in the Cup Final.

Under 15 Munster Blitz: In Clogheen, Tipperary U15 ‘A’ played Limerick, Cork, and Clare in the round robin with Tipperary and Limerick qualifying for the Cup Final. Tipperary beat Limerick 3-9 to 0-3 to win the Munster Under 15 ‘A’ title.
