Drug seizures in Tipp - arrests made

Gardaí have arrested a man and seized €124,500 in suspected cannabis herb, cocaine and tablets following a search in Tipperary on Friday, June 4th.

Gardaí from Tipperary Drugs Unit and Tipperary District, the Cork Dog Unit and Customs carried out a search in the Dundrum area shortly after 11am on Friday.

This search resulted in a seizure of cannabis estimated to be worth €60,000, cocaine worth €24,500 and tablets valued at €40,000. The drugs seized will now be sent for further analysis. A number of phones and a sum of cash were also seized.

A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested in connection with the search and he was taken to Tipperary Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act 1996.

Also on Friday, Gardaí arrested two men and seized almost €5,000 of suspected drugs in the county.

Gardaí from Carrick-on-Suir, with the assistance of uniform and detective Gardaí from Clonmel, the Southern Region Dog Unit and the Revenue Customs Dog Unit, carried out searches at eight homes in Carrick-on-Suir. The searches were carried out as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in the Carrick-on-Suir Area.

During the searches Gardaí seized approximately €650 of suspected cocaine and €4,100 of suspected cannabis herb and cannabis jellies. Gardaí also seized a weighing scales and two mobile phones.

Two men, aged in their 30s, were arrested and are currently being detained at Clonmel Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
