Castlefest plans for Nenagh
Preliminary plans have been put in place to stage the annual Castlefest in the grounds of Nenagh Castle this September, its main promoter Cllr Hughie McGrath revealed at the May meeting of Nenagh Municipal District Council.
Cathaoirleach Cllr Séamie Morris noted that the council had provided funding for the staging of the festival. “I think Castlefest could be like Woodstock this year because people have been locked up for so long,” he said. Cllr McGrath said it was his intention and that of others involved to proceed with “a limited community festival” in September, subject to Government guidelines on Covid. The council had committed to funding such an event which meant he could now look cautiously at making bookings of bands and performers. A final call on the event going ahead will be made in July.
