Allianz Hurling & Football Leagues
Last Saturday saw the return to competitive inter county action and a trip to the LIT Gaelic Grounds for Tipperary that resulted in a well-earned draw. There were some very good performances with all the players showing great commitment and enthusiasm. Given the fact that this was the players first game of the year they will be happy with the performance and result. Following the full-time whistle, Tipperary’s Jason Forde was presented with the RTE Man of The Match award following his fine performance, finishing the game with of 14 points, while Borris-Ileigh’s Dan McCormack was awarded the Eir Sport Man of The Match award for his performance. It was confirmed on Monday that Bryan O’Mara who was injured during the course of the game, sustained a fracture to his arm and is expected to be out for between 4 to 6 weeks.
The focus for Tipperary now turns to next Saturday and a home game against Cork in Semple Stadium. The game has a 7.30pm throw in and will be broadcast live on RTE 2 television and also on Tipp FM along with the usual updates through out the game on the Tipperary GAA Twitter feed.
The Tipperary senior footballers commence their league campaign with an away trip to the LIT Gaelic Grounds next Saturday, where David Power and his management team will be looking to get the year off to a winning start against Limerick. The game throws in at 5.30pm and can be seen via the GAAGo online platform.
Ahead of both games next Saturday you can hear both team announcements live on Tipp FM this Friday evening. The team’s will also be available to view on all Tipperary GAA social media platforms and on the Tipperary GAA website.

Tipperary Clubs Draw
The next draw in the 2020 – 2021 Tipperary clubs draw will take place this Friday evening and will be broadcast live on Tipp FM starting at 8.30pm. Munster GAA Awards 2020
Earlier this year the Munster council announced their award winners for 2020. The awards would usually have been presented at a function hosted by the council, but due to the on going restrictions this was not possible this year. So instead the awards were presented to the Tipperary recipients in an outdoor setting and in a socially distanced manner in line with current guidelines. Current Munster council vice chairman Ger Ryan visited Dr Morris Park last week and presented Tipperary All Star Conor Sweeney with the Footballer of the year award for his outstanding performances through out 2020 that culminated in his side capturing the Munster football title after 85 years. Tipperary football manager David Power who guided his team to great success was also presented with the 2020 manager of the year award. Congratulations to both winners and we thank the Munster council for making the presentations.
Feile Skills County Finals
Our GDAs held the County Feile skills competition Finals in Dr Morris Park on Friday evening May 7th.
The GDAs have been very proactive during the lockdown working virtually to get qualifiers to represent each division in both codes. The Finals were held in accordance with public health guidelines with social distancing awithno contact. The boys displayed a very high standard of skills and after a very close run contest, Evan Morrissey Holycross-Ballycahil representing Mid Tipperary emerged as winner in Football and Jack Hayes Moycarkey Borris also representing Mid Tipperary was victorious in the Hurling. The other finalists in Football were Conor Gantley Cappawhite representing West Tipperary, Tadgh White Moneygall representing North Tipperary and Shane Ryan Ardfinnan representing South Tipperary. In the Hurling the other finalists were, Jamie Ryan St Mary’s South, Sean O Mahoney Arravale Rovers West and Conor Kennedy Lorra Dorra North.
All the finalists were presented with a Tipperary T-Shirts by County Bord na nÓg Chairman Tommy Landers. The winners will be presented with their county medals at the County Coiste na nOg medal presentation later in the year.

Health and Wellbeing
To encourage all Clubs in the County to become involved in the GAA Healthy Club Initiative an information Webinar was held on Tuesday, April 13th. The aim of the Webinar was to welcome new members and hear from Clubs already participating in the project on the positive role the Healthy Club Committee can have within their club and the overall community. The Munster coaching and games development committee have recently updated their website, this site now contains a wealth of easily accessible coaching information and will prove a valuable resource for the large army of volunteer coaches who currently operate across the province.
