Funding is to be provided for lighting on the popular walking-running route of the Nenagh bypass.

Light to shine on popular walkway

One of Nenagh’s most popular walking and jogging routes, the N52 bypass of the town, is to be lit up, a move that has thrilled local councillor Hughie McGrath who has waged a protracted campaign for funding for the project.

Councillor McGrath has welcomed news that funding is to be provided for the public lighting on the bypass, on the stretch between the Dromineer Road and Borrisokane Road roundabouts.

Reacting to the news, Councillor McGrath said he hopes that funding for lighting the other stretch of the bypass, from the Dromineer Road to the Limerick Road, will be provided as a natural follow-up to the initial project.

“Council officials have been jokingly suggesting to me that I might give Transport Infracture Ireland a break now that the funding has been provided for lighting up a key part of what is a very popular walking route around the town,” said Counillor McGrath, who waged an ongoing campaign in recent years for the job to be done.
