Ardcroney pupil writes letter of thanks to frontline workers
Ardcroney NS pupil Elena Madden has been thanked by UL Hospitals Group for writing a beautiful letter of praise to the frontline workers in Limerick. Third Class pupil Elena (9) wrote the letter as part of a wellbeing project and because she was previously cared for at the Limerick hospital herself. Her letter reads as follows:
“Dear staff of Limerick hospital. My name is Elena Madden. I'm from a little village in Ardcroney. I'm nine years old.
“I’m writing this letter to ye as part of ‘Wellbeing Week’ project from school. We have a list of things to pick from and complete. One of them was to write a letter to any frontline workers and thank them for their hard work during the pandemic of Covid-19. I thought this would be a lovely thing to do as ye are working so hard and putting yourselves at risk every day.
“I, Elena Madden, would like to thank ye all from the bottom of my heart. Without ye helping us during this crisis, we would be lost. I’m so grateful for the staff of Limerick hospital for all of your hard work.
“The reason I picked ye to write to is because when I was sick ye looked after me to get better. The staff was so lovely, kind and nice to me and my mum when I was with ye. The staff are amazing workers. Without ye, we would be lost. Your friend, Elena Madden.”
Elena's teacher Karen Finch said UL Hospitals Group was so delighted that they contacted the school to thank Elena and asked permission to publish her letter on their social media accounts. Ms Finch said all at the school are very proud of Elena's work. Well done, Elena!
