Nenagh lights for hospice and CARMHA

Pat and Patricia Ahern last week presented the proceeds of their annual Christmas lights fundraiser to two very worthy local causes, North Tipperary Hospice Movement and CARMHA.

Every Christmas for the last 30 years or more, people have come from all around to see the marvellous lights and festive scene at the Ahern family home in Yewston, Nenagh. In latter years the Aherns have asked visitors to leave a small donation for the hospice, and now also Connection and Recovery in Mental Health and Addiction (CARMHA).

Last week they presented proceeds of €3,295 to Fionnuala Gill and Nellie Frawley of the hospice; this included €1,000 that Patricia won in a Late, Late Show prize giveaway competition before Christmas. Proceeds of €500 were presented to CARMHA co-founder, Addiction Counsellor and Psychotherapist Donie Ryan.

Pat and Patricia would like to thank everyone who supported their fundraising event of last December and January.

Thanks also to the Nenagh Guardian, Tipp FM, Nenagh Live, the Parish Newsletter, and Brendan Manning for providing sweets for the visiting children, and to all their neighbours, friends and family.

Special thanks to Philip Ryan for collecting donations at his furniture shop on Pearse St before Christmas.
