'Roscrea, My Heart's Home' competition
To coincide with St Patrick’s Day 2021, Roscrea Heritage Society is holding a competition based on the theme of Kathleen Moloughney’s book ‘Roscrea, My Heart’s Home’.
Through both her publications - 'Roscrea, Me Darlin’! (1987) and 'Roscrea, My Heart’s Home' (1992), Kathleen has recorded a fantastic amount of information on people who lived in Roscrea and these publications reiterate how important it is for us to continue recording our local history and traditions for future generations. Keeping this theme in mind, submissions can be based on something told to you by family members of bygone days, your favourite memories of shops and/or the people who worked in them, or your favourite heritage site, folklore and traditions.
Prize categories will include Poetry, Stories and Artwork. Age categories are primary school, secondary school and adults. Submissions can be dropped into our competition box in Roscrea Shopping Centre from Friday, February 26th, to Friday, March 12th. We will have first prize and runner up prizes in each category.
Winners will be notified on Wednesday, March 17th, and arrangements will be made to receive your prize (social distance guidelines will be adhered to). All prize winners will have their photo and winning entry published in the local papers and on social media. Please include name, age category and contact number on the back of your entry.
