Coiste na nÓg confirm underage formats
Regulations for the new uneven age juvenile GAA competitions have been finalised by Tipperary Coiste na nOg.
The U15 & 17 grades will be fifteen aside in ‘A’ & ‘B’ with thirty-minute halves, however, ‘C’ competitions, which will be all-county, will be eleven aside with 25-minute halves. Under 15’s will use size 5 footballs and sliotars.
Three major adjustments have been made to the Under 13 grade in terms of pitch size, numbers, and length of games. Under 13 ‘A’ & ‘B’ will be thirty minutes aside, but 25 minutes aside for ‘C’ & ‘D’. The pitch size is now 13m line to 13m line, but continuing to use the small goals as in the old under 12 grade. ‘A’ & ‘B’ grades will be thirteen aside with the ‘C’ grade 11 aside, while the ‘D’ grade is minimum of 9 aside but pitch size is from 20m to 20m.
Also, in under 13, in hurling it’s four steps, touch, four steps, pass/shoot while ‘65’s are to be taken from the ‘65’ yard line. In terms of football, it is four steps, one hop or solo, four steps then pass or shoot. Only the goalkeeper can kick the ball out from hand. The “Mark” from the kick-out is in play, but there will be no use of the attacking mark. ‘45’s are to be taken from the ‘45’.
A slight change will see roll-on roll-off substitutions in both hurling and football. A sub-slip will have to be provided to the referee for any player entering the field. In football, a Black card will earn five minutes in the sin-bin with no replacement.
Non-competitive games will be in place for Under 11’s with each division having full control over them.
All mentors and parents are encouraged to make enquiries with their club for a copy of the full regulations.
New County Coiste na nOg Chairperson Tommy Landers asked that all clubs take the time to inform their mentors, players, and supporters of the strict stance on behaviour at our games.
“To players, mentors, parents and supporters, Tipperary Coiste na nOg wish to inform all attending Coiste na nOg games that unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated on or off the pitch,” he said.
“The referee will report any abuse of players, referee, linesmen, umpires or supporters to the board and appropriate action will be taken. The referees report will be examined by the CCC and the club in question will be asked to respond. Clubs are responsible for the behaviour of their players, mentors, and supporters.
“As the County Coiste na nOg has a zero-tolerance approach to any sort of abuse or bad behaviour at our games please be aware the consequences can be serious.
“We ask clubs to look seriously at this issue and hopefully with everyone’s co-operation all boys and girls will enjoy playing our great games of hurling and football in the true spirit of the Association.”
