Nenagh Youth Theatre is planning a range of workshops where you will make new friends and learn some confidence-building exercises.

Nenagh Arts Centre helping everyone keep active in the arts over lockdown

Nenagh Arts Centre is planning numerous activities over the next few months to keep our community, young and not so young, entertained and engaged.

Nenagh Youth Theatre is now recruiting new members, aged 13-17 years, for their exciting term ahead. They have a jam-packed term full of drama workshops, improvisation technique, team and confidence building exercises. It has been running all through lockdown with their incredible online workshops, keeping the young people of Nenagh engaged, creative and in touch with their friends throughout these tough times.

The ancient Celtic festival of Imbolc celebrates the arrival of longer, warmer days and the early signs of spring. We also celebrate Lá Fhéile Bríde or St Brigid’s Day on February 1st, one of Ireland’s patron saints. To commemorate these traditional Irish festivities join Nenagh Arts Centre for ‘Celebrate Spring’ where you can create your own St Brigid’s Cross. Sign up to watch the video by Melanie Lorien and watch the easy to follow instructions on the video to create your own cross. Nenagh Children’s Film Festival, now in its second year, was established to support film and filmmakers who create work for young audiences. Submissions are now open for the 2021 online festival and films by professionals, third level, secondary and primary students are welcome. Our creative youth need events like these now more than ever.

Finally, if you are between 18-25 years and currently unemployed, why not take part in the project ‘St Brendan’s Voyage’, designed to get insights into the workings of theatre and filmmaking where participants will devise, create and present a short film to be premiered at the Nenagh Children’s Film Festival in June.
