Tipp footballers to change colours to mark Bloody Sunday in Munster Final

In advance of Tipperary's involvement in the Munster Senior Football final on Sunday, 22nd November, Tipperary County Board have confirmed that coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, the Tipperary team will wear the official replica green & white jersey as worn by Tipperary on that fateful day, as a mark of respect to all of the fallen.

Croke Park recently approved this jersey as the first official Tipperary Bloody Sunday replica which features an image of Michael Hogan on the sleeve along with the official Tipperary and GAA crests.

Originally, prior to the Covid-19 impact on the championship, the commemorative jersey was set to be unveiled and worn by the Tipperary team in a game against Dublin at Croke Park on Saturday 21st November at the special Bloody Sunday Commemoration, which will still go ahead as part of the Leinster Football Final and will be shown live on television.

However, with Tipperary now playing in a Munster Final on the weekend of the one hundredth anniversary (November 21st 1920) of such an iconic event in which Tipperary player Michael Hogan was one of fourteen players killed at a football match between Tipperary and Dublin, the current Tipperary panel and management in a statement said they were: “honoured to wear the official replica green and white jersey in this year’s Munster Final and play their part in marking this historic anniversary event.”

Tipperary team sponsor Teneo have agreed to forego their name on the front of this commemorative jersey in favour of the symbolic Tipperary name printed in gold across the front.

Teneo Chairman and CEO and Tipperary native Declan Kelly congratulated David Power’s team on reaching the Munster Final and said he was: “honoured to be associated with the Tipperary Senior Football team as we commemorate this very significant period in our history".

The jersey will go on public sale in December.
