Youghal kids support Mary's Meals!

Two small children held a novel fundraiser for one of the less well-known charities at Youghal Quay on Saturday.

During Covid-19, Gabriel (7) and Gemma (5) MacBean grew their own tomatoes, basil, apples, etc. Their family taught them about people who weren’t as lucky as they are, and Gabriel and Gemma decided that they wanted to sell their produce to see if they could raise money for charity.

It ended up that they used the produce to make their own pasta sauce chutney (with some help from mum, Danielle) and decorated the bottles themselves.

The family has always supported www.marysmeals.ie but when they discovered that very little is known about this charity and that Covid prevented a lot of exposure and campaigning, Gemma and Gabriel jumped into action. They set up a stall at their home gates on the road to Youghal Quay and many people stopped to donate and ask about what they were doing.

We want to thank everyone who supported this act, and from a little stall at the front gate they raised €104.62! This means that six children have been fed for a whole year and are getting to go to school.
