Sheelagh Chadwick who will be among those singing during the Mass

Silvermines Parish Priest for RTÉ's bright lights

A GREAT flurry of excitement ran through the little village of Silvermines nestled at the foot of Keeper Hill last Thursday week as RTE vehicles appeared on the main street with a crew of camera men, sound engineers and an excitable looking Director asking for directions to the parochial house.
It quickly became apparent that the local 'pádre', Fr Brendan Moloney, was to be the star of the show, as he emerged from his dwelling looking splendid in his pressed black suit and gleaming white collar.
RTÉ were on hand to record some footage of the Silvermines area and to capture Fr Moloney interacting with the locals as a prelude to the upcoming RTE Religious affairs programme, "Mass on Sunday", to be broadcast on this coming Sunday August 16th.
Local lady Sheelagh Chadwick accompanied the crew and showed off our local tourism areas and GAA heritage and was compere extraordinaire for the day as she narrated to the camera the wonders of our little piece of paradise here in North Tipperary.
Fr Brendan recently celebrated his Golden Jubilee - 50 years in the priesthood - and has been invited to celebrate Mass live from Donnybrook on RTE 1 Television this Sunday at 11am. The broadcast will also be live on the internet and on RTÉ Radio 1.
Joining Fr Brendan in studio for the celebration of the Mass will be local well-known musical group Amadeus with an expanded line-up of local musicians and singers, including Sheelagh Chadwick, Theresa Larkin, Kathleen Costello, Liam Gleeson and John O’Brien.
We would invite everyone at home and abroad with a connection to Silvermines, and indeed to Fr Brendan, to tune in and celebrate this Mass with us as we honour his long and devoted service to the priesthood and indeed to our parish, and take the opportunity to show off our award winning village and its talented musicians and performers.
