Charities Governance workshops for Tipp volunteers

The teams at Tipperary Volunteer Centre and North Tipperary Development Company recognise that Governance and its associated workload is impacting our community based organisations - a point backed up as one of the key findings during the 'Call For Input' into the National Volunteering Strategy.

While the Charities Governance code will soon be a legal requirement for community and voluntary charitable organisations, it provides a framework of best practice that can be embraced and adopted by any community group. Though the framework is clear, how to apply it in practice is less obvious. These workshops will help identify some practical steps which can be taken by all organisations to apply the code.

The workshops, delivered by Ciaran Lynch, will cover:
1. An overview of the code
2. The legal requirements of the code
3 The codes six principles
4. The standards associated with each principle
5. The principle areas of focus
6. Practical steps to implement the code

Ciaran Lynch is the Managing Director of Community Engagement Partners Limited, having retired as the Development Manager of LIT in 2016. He has a background in sociology, town planning, rural development and governance. He worked as a local authority planner for over 20 years and was The Planning and Development Officer for County Clare for 13 years.

Having completed the two workshops you will have a better understanding of the code and be in a position to implement it at your own organisation. The workshops take place on Thursday, July 23rd, at 7:30pm - Part #1
Thursday, July 30th, at 7:30pm - Part #2
