The journal will be available at this Saturday's Lakeshore Market in Ballinderry.

Launch of Kilbarron-Terryglass Historical Society

Kilbarron-Terryglass Historical Society will launch their Journal – 'The Bridge' – 2020 edition this Saturday, a little later than normal in a less than normal time in our lives.

This year we have a supplement, an extract from the replies to the Questionnaire of the Poor Inquiry 1835. Like other years in 'The Bridge', topics covered are interesting and varied, like the photographic survey of the memorials in Kilbarron Graveyard – 'Emblems of Faith' gives an understanding to what we often see (though sometimes we don’t even notice) and know so little about what they mean.

Then there are the personal stories - Mick Slevin, family man and athlete; memories of Kilgarvan Regatta and the odd folklore story, which asks the reader to judge could it be fact or fiction? And the inquest of what happened at Cambie’s Rock?

The Society are grateful to everyone who in anyway contributed to the journal and helps to publish it, and as the 2020 edition is now on sale we will soon be looking ahead to next year, and if anyone feels like sharing a story or history please do contact us.

We thank the Lakeshore Market for allowing us the opportunity last Saturday to launch our Journal and for giving us the opportunity to return this coming Saturday, June 6th, at their market in Ballinderry. This week you can find us at the village pump, so please do call and say hello, and if you’ve not already got your journal, you can do so then.
