Prestigious AIMS nominations for Nenagh Choral Society

On Sunday last the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) announced the nominations for this season's awards.

This was to be a very busy season for all involved in NCS as they staged 'The Addams Family' musical in October 2019 with the Youth Academy and the plan was to stage 'Chess' in March 2020 and celebrate the 50th consecutive adult show to be staged by the Society since its reformation. However, like everything, 'Chess' had to be postponed so the Youth Academy was left to fly the flag for the Society this season, which they did with pride.

These are national awards and it was a great achievement for Nenagh Choral Society that their Youth Academy has received two nominations. We would like to take this time thank the production team, cast, stage construction/artists, crew and everyone that was involved in any way for their contribution to the show receiving nominations for 'Best Visual' and 'Best Technical' for 'The Addams Family'.

On top of these society nominations there was one personal nomination for our Vice Chairperson Gerry Scanlon, who has been nominated for the Mary Kelly 'Unsung Hero' award. 'Chess' would have also been Gerry's 50th consecutive adult show with NCS and he is 'our hero' here at NSC and The Scouts Hall.

Society chairperson Margaret McGee said: "This is a huge honour for Nenagh Choral Society and we are delighted that the hard work that is put into everything we do is being recognised. Congratulations to all in the society for this national recognition that is well-deserved. On behalf of all of us at NCS, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our fellow AIMS members in neighbouring societies on their nominations also.
At this time we would once again like to thank all our NCS supporters; without your continued support we would not be able to stage these shows. This season may be on hold but we will be back, the show will go on - keep an eye on our social media for updates."

All going accordingly, some members of the society will head to The Gleneagle in September for the National AIMS awards ceremony.
