Ballina bridged a gap of eleven years to win their third North Tipperary Under 21 ‘B’ Football title when they easily defeated Moneygall/Clonakenny last Saturday.

A small size home following witnessed an impressive display by the Royal Blues who would have won by a larger margin but for Moneygall goalkeeper Sean Maher who produced three fine saves with the first two coming right out of the top drawer.

Led by the impressive Eoghan Power, Sam Loughran and wing back Conor Power the home side led 2-5 to 0-3 at half time. They faced the breeze in the second half but when corner back Darragh King scored his team’s third goal there was only one outcome.

Moneygall/Clonakenny had a lot of possession in the second half but failed to turn it into scores where Joe Fogarty and Cian O’Dwyer tried best.

From very early the Ballina side displayed real attacking power but there was more to the workrate of Loughran and the two Powers especially in their Ballina defence where James Hanley and Michael Grace who manned the spine of the defence which limited the Moneygall/Clonakenny to just one point when Cian O’Dwyer scored after nine minutes.
