Local Peace Commissioner Brendan Murphy

Leading role for Brendan in Darkness Into Light 2020

Local Peace Commissioner Brendan Murphy was nominated to chair the Darkness Into Light event in Nenagh for 2020.
“I am truly honoured to chair the Darkness Into Light event for the third year,” said Brendan.
Amanda McGee has been nominated as Vice-Chair for 2020. Amanda has been involved on the committee for the past number of years and brings with her great energy and fresh ideas.
Said Brendan: “Amanda’s appointment as Vice-Chair is a huge boost as it will help us build on what has become a very successful event to date as she hopes to add autistic-friendly features to this year’s event, including a sensory area.”
He added: “I would like to thank and acknowledge all our committee members, volunteers, sponsors, the Scouts Hall committee, and all our first aid and rescue teams for their help to date as the event would not be possible without your help.
“As we prepare for this year’s event, which will take place on May 9th at 4.15am from the Scouts Hall, Nenagh, we hope to make this year’s event even more special. This event raises much needed funds for Pieta House who provide vital services for those who are in suicidal distress, emotional crisis, or those engaging in self harm.”
Brendan said the event is about raising awareness and letting people know that it’s ok to not be ok.
“It’s about a community walking united as we promote positive mental health, remembering those who we have sadly lost and letting those who are struggling know that they don’t have to go through it on their own.”
Brendan urged the people of Nenagh to make this year's Darkness Into Light the biggest event to date.
