Voting in the General Election takes place this Saturday.

Tipp to vote on Saturday

Following much legal consultation voting in the General Election will go ahead in Tipperary on Saturday.

The election in the Tipperary constituency had been thrown into turmoil following the sudden death on Monday of Independent candidate Marese Skehan from Thurles.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy, is expected to release a statement in the coming hours concerning voting arrangements in the county.

The Attorney General's Office has been examining legal arguments since the tragic passing of Ms Skehan. It has been claimed that a delay to the Tipperary vote could be unconstitutional, because the constitution states an election has to be held within 30 days of the dissolution of the Dáil..
