EV charging points for Tipperary

Electric vehicle (EV) charging points are to be installed at six locations in three towns in Tipperary as part of a new scheme involving the county council.
A feasibility study has been carried out and six sites were identified in Nenagh, Clonmel and Tipperary town where EV charging equipment will be installed to facilitate owners of electric vehicles.
The January meeting of Tipperary Co Council heard that the charging points would be installed in three council-owned and three private car parks, subject to funding. Senior Executive Officer Marion O’Neill said the council has been engaging with Tipperary Energy Agency on the matter. The cost of installing the charging points would amount to around €20,000 each.
Ms O’Neill said the council is hoping to put the points in place at the end of this year. She confirmed that there would be a parking and energy-usage fee for motorists using the charging points.
