Tipperary star Jake Morris is backing Borris-Ileigh to deliver when they face into the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling semi-final against Galway's St. Thomas' in the New Year.

The 20-year old says it was great that Borris-Ileigh finally “broke the duck” for Club hurling in the Premier County, becoming the first Tipperary side since Thurles Sarsfields in 2012 to deliver Munster Senior Hurling Club Championship honours.

"It was important for Tipperary club hurling,” Morris told the Guardian at the announcement of UPMC as the new official healthcare partner of the GAA-GPA.

We hadn't had a great run when teams were getting out of Tipp, in the Munster stages. I suppose they are after now breaking the duck a small bit, and fair play to them. It was an unreal win.

I think all of the clubs in Tipperary were delighted to see them win, and they were cheering them on, so it's brilliant for the county.

Morris has faced St. Thomas in recent months, while in challenge game action with his club Nenagh Éire Óg, and has been impressed by the Galway side, but believes Borris-Ileigh will firmly put it up to the men from the West.

"We played St. Thomas's in a challenge game a couple of weeks ago, and they are a handy team. They are very good. I can see Borris-Ileigh doing well with the momentum they have behind them and they have just picked up serious momentum.

They don't like like that they are going to be easily beaten, so I wouldn't be surprised if they stay continuing and win too be honest."
