Christmas Festival in Cloughjordan

On Sunday next, December 8th, Cloughjordan will hold its Christmas Festival on Main Street and all are welcome along!

This annual community event promises this year to be the biggest and brightest yet, with a wide variety of offerings on the night.

At 5pm, there will be a parade along Main Street to Coach House Square, where at 5.30pm, special guests, Tipperary captain Seamus Callanan and Jake Morris, will switch on the Christmas Tree lights. They will also be judging the parade entries with the best turn out receiving a signed Tipperary hurley from the team. After the lights go on, Santa's Grotto will be open in the Coach House for families to visit!

The Cloughjordan Street Market group will hold a special night market to support local retailers and two of Cloughjordan's choirs will be performing, the Mellow Tones Female Voices Choir and the Cloughjordan Community Choir as well as local school children.

As well as the switching on of the village lights, there will be the lunch of the Cloughjordan Comminity Development Committee's Christmas Shop Local Campaign.

This campaign seeks to encourage people to spend a little extra locally this Christmas and support their local businesses, their neighbours and local jobs!

CHRISTMAS MARKET

On Saturday (December 7th) in St Kieran's Hall, the Cloughjordan Street Market Group will be holding their annual Christmas Market from 10am til 3pm. There will be hot drinks and lots of home-baked treats, gifts, crafts and so much more with the very best of everything made in Cloughjordan. There will be Christmas songs and singing and lots of good neighbours to share a cuppa and a chat with and what better way to celebrate all that is good locally!

CLOUGHJORDAN ECO-CONGREGATION

The three main Churches in Cloughjordan recently came together to form the Cloughjordan Eco-Congregation Group (the first location in Ireland to involve three churches) and at the Christmas market they will receive their certificates of registration from the national oversight body.

The Cloughjordan Community Development Committee would like to thank Tipperary County Council for their support in the running of this event under the Retail Support Scheme.
