Love Island star Greg O'Shea and food enthusiast Cassie Stokes launched this year's awards.

Foodies invited to nominate their favourite local flavour

Popular breakfast broadcaster and professional rugby 7s player Greg O’Shea joined presenter and content creator Cassie Stokes in Dublin to officially launch the highly-anticipated Just Eat National Takeaway Awards.
Now in its sixth year, three new categories have been added to the 2019 ballot paper including Best Takeaway Sustainability, Best Takeaway Vegan and Best Takeaway Breakfast, with Greg and Cassie calling on fans to nominate their favourite local flavours at just-eat.ie/takeawayawards2019 before Sunday, December 15th, for the chance to win free takeaway for a year!
Celebrating the diversity and choice now available in the sector, this event was developed by Ireland’s leading online food ordering and delivery app to uncover the nation’s favourite takeaways; recognising the ongoing efforts of restaurants in the sector delivering great tasting quality cuisine, with a total of 25 awards up for grabs on the night.
Nominees for Best Takeaway Sustainability must demonstrate conscious decision making in the area of food production, packaging and energy, with the all-new Best Takeaway Breakfast category a celebration of the expanding Just Eat menu. Speaking at the launch of this year’s National Takeaway Awards and commenting on the new categories, Annelie McCaffrey, Head of Marketing, Just Eat Ireland said, “We’re thrilled to be launching the sixth annual Just Eat National Takeaway Awards and shining a light on the diversity of flavours, standard of service and quality of delivery that is now available to customers right across the country.”
“The Best Takeaway Sustainability category has been introduced this year to acknowledge those within the industry working to make their own business model more sustainable. Whether it’s sourcing produce from organic farms, switching to compostable materials or introducing renewable energy sources into their production, we want to celebrate them.”
Taking a break from his pre-season schedule, popular professional rugby 7’s player and national breakfast radio presenter Greg O’Shea spoke about the importance of convenient healthy options delivered straight to your door. “My schedule was always pretty hectic to be honest, but these days I’m on the go from 4.30am, so I’m delighted to help launch the Just Eat National Takeaway Awards and celebrate the great range of healthy takeaway options available to people that need convenience, but don’t want to compromise their lifestyle.
“I’d certainly be partial to a more traditional takeaway treat at the weekend, particularly during the off-season, but I’m really looking forward to seeing who gets nominated for Best Takeaway Vegetarian, Healthy and Vegan this year.”
Returning as the host of the glamourous awards, which will be taking place in Dublin’s Number Twenty Two on Tuesday, January 21st, food enthusiast Cassie Stokes went on to say: “Anyone who follows me on Instagram knows that I love my food, so I’m thrilled to be returning for the second year to host the Just Eat National Takeaway Awards. It really was a great night last year and a true celebration of the incredible range of delicious options we have at our fingertips from Breakfast R  olls to Poke Bowls, so get nominating!”
The shortlist of nominees will be announced on Tuesday, January 7th, 2020, with customers given the chance to vote for their winner. To find our more visit just-eat.ie/takeawayawards2019
