CBS tractor run fundraiser on Sunday

Over 200 tractors are expected to take part in the Nenagh CBS tractor run in aid of Embrace Farm this Sunday, November 17th.
Featuring special guest Gareth Gault/'Donkey' from Grassmen, the tractor run will feature vintage and modern models. It is just one part of a series of events being organised by the CBS to raise funds and awareness for the national farm accident support network.
There will also be a monster timber auction in the school grounds on the day. Over 25 trailer loads of timber have been gathered so far and Donkey is going to be the auctioneer for the day!
IFA presidential candidate Tim Cullinan of Toomevara is donating a pig-on-a-spit for the barbeque that will take place at the school, sponsored by Margaret Fogarty of Fogarty Concrete (free to all who drive a tractor on the day). Food will be served from 1pm. There will be complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits, with some sweet treats for the kids as well!
This Sunday's event will be followed by a public talk on farm safety, taking place at the school on Wednesday, December 11th, at 7.30pm. Speakers will include the likes of Peter Gohery of Embrace Farm, a farm accident survivor; local PR consultant Eugene Hogan, who lost his brother through a farm accident; Angela Hogan, who lost her partner in an accident, and Norma and Brian Rohan, who set up Embrace Farm after the loss of a parent in an accident.
The proceeds of this Sunday's event will be presented to Embrace Farm at the December night of talks. Also that night, the five CBS Transition Year students involved in the project – Patrick Quigley, Jack Gleeson, Paul Seymour, Micheál Ryan and Paul Fogarty, all of whom hail from farming backgrounds – will show a video that they are making to highlight farm safety.
So many businesses - large and small - have come on board with sponsorship, both monetary and in terms of raffle prizes. All involved in the CBS project are very grateful for this and say it just goes to show that this is a campaign and a subject that hits home with people.
The tractor run will start out from the CBS grounds on Sunday at 12 noon (registration at 11am) and will follow a route out to Ballycommon, Kilcolman, Silvermines and Toomevara before returning to the school grounds for the barbeque, timber auction, raffle and more.
Details of the route and the events happening at the school can be found on the school's website and the Nenagh CBS Tractor Run page on Facebook.
