CLUB FIXTURES

The FBD Insurance County Championships continue unabated with some intriguing football semi-finals down for decision this weekend, coming on the back of a great weekend on the hurling front.

So, first up a quick recap on last weekend, starting with the FBD Insurance County Senior Hurling Championship where it is now down to two for the prized Dan Breen Cup as Kiladangan and Borris-Ileigh prepare to meet on Sunday week, following their respective wins over Nenagh Éire Óg and Kilruane MacDonaghs.

In FBD Insurance Seamus Ó Riain Cup it will be an all Mid affair in the final, as Holycross-Ballycahill and JK Brackens came through following their semi-final wins over Templederry Kenyons and Mullinahone.

The FBD Insurance County Intermediate hurling championship didn’t disappoint either with semi-final victories going to Kiladangan and Sean Treacys. Victory for Kiladanagn ensures two senior teams next season which is a wonderful achievement for the club. While in the relegation semi-finals, Gortnahoe-Glengoole and Ballybacon-Grange made sure of their status with victory in their respective semi-finals.

There was a great set of results for Carrick Davins in the FBD Insurance County Junior A hurling championships as they reached the final with impressive wins in the quarter and semi-final fixtures last week. In the final they will meet Arravale Rovers. And in the FBD Insurance County Junior B hurling championship, Drom & Inch made it through to the final.

It’s going to be a great weekend in the FDB Insurance county football championships where once again the main attention will be on the senior football semi-finals. First up in Boherlahan the clash of Clonmel Commercials and Loughmore-Castleiney is sure to set the tempo for the day as they go toe to toe. Later in Cashel, last year’s champions Moyle Rovers will face JK Brackens who will no doubt have momentum behind them following their achievements so far in the Seamus Ó Riain Cup.

It’s West v South in both Tom Cusack Cup semi-finals with the fixtures going ahead also on Sunday where Éire Óg Annacarty-Donohill will meet Killenaule and Aherlow Gaels take on Kilsheelan-Kilcash.

There will be a local derby in the FDB Insurance county intermediate football championship when Clonmel Commercials and Clonmel Óg meet on Saturday, with Golden-Kilfeacle and Moycarkey-Borris also looking to reach the final as they square up in Holycross.

The FDB Insurance county junior A football championship semi-finals are also divided over two days with Ballylooby-Castlegrace and Portroe meeting on Saturday, while the South pairing of Newcastle and Mullinahone goes ahead on Sunday.

Best wishes to all clubs in action this weekend and the following is a line-up of the championship fixtures;

WORKSHOP

In the Online Club Survey carried out at the end of 2018, many clubs sought support in a number of areas of club activity. Top of the list was Insurance and there was a fine attendance at the seminar on this important topic on 10th October.

Two other topics which were high on the list of priorities for clubs were ‘Volunteer Recruitment’ and ‘Running the AGM'. Accordingly, a workshop will be held in the Anner Hotel, Thurles, on Wednesday 6th November next, with registration and tea/coffee at 7.15pm. The workshop commences at 7.45pm and will conclude at 10.00pm.

The Club Annual General Meeting is the most important meeting of the year and it is important that it is organised in accordance with the rules of the Association. The workshop will focus on procedures for the AGM, Preparing for and running the AGM, Club Governance and Structures, Best Practices, etc. The second part of the night will look at recruiting volunteers, getting people involved in the club, holding on to volunteers, etc.

The workshop will be conducted by a trained, experienced Croke Park facilitator and should be a great opportunity for club leaders to equip themselves to tackle the challenges which they face at local level.
