A brace of second half goals inside a five minute spell just after the interval provided the catalyst for a thoroughly deserved Kiladangan victory over a fancied Shannon Rovers side in a well-contested County Intermediate Hurling quarter-final clash on Sunday.

Leading by 1-7 to 0-4 at the break after a dominant opening half, Kiladangan struck in the 33rd, and again in the 38th minute, with Eoghan Meagher and Tom O’Meara netting with aplomb to propel the men in blue and gold into a commanding 3-7 to 0-5 lead, and a lead which never really looked like in danger of collapsing at any juncture.

Shannon Rovers played second fiddle throughout this contest with the concession of frees coupled with their inability to convert enough of chances from play and placed balls coming back to haunt them in the end.
