On your marks for the Garry' 10k!

The seventh annual Garrykennedy 5/10k will take place on Sunday, October 6th, at 2pm sharp.

Registration will be in Ciss Ryan's from 12 noon until 1.30pm sharp and you are advised to get there early as registration can take a long time. The race will start on the back road from Garrykennedy to Portroe beside the entrance to the beautiful Woodland Nature Walk in Garrykennedy village and the finish line will also be at this point.

This very scenic but challenging route will be the same route as last year: Starting from the picturesque Garrykennedy village up the quiet back road to little village of Portroe, where it is said:“If you climb the hill in Port you can overcome any obstacle in life”.Turning right at the T-junction up past the primary school, then first right down through the townlands of Shesharoe, Lackaroe, and Cornode, you will be in “the Dairy Heartlands of Tipperary with stunning views of Lough Derg”.

Return to the finish line at the entrance to the Woodland Nature Walk in Garrykennedy village. The route will be well signposted with marshals and drinking water at every turn-off to direct all participants.

As in previous years the race will be chip timed so everyone who registers and takes a number will be timed. The registration cost will be €10 per adult and €2 per child under 13. There will be lots of fun and games for the children with a bouncy castle, face painting and lots of other events for the children.

This year the emphasis will be on a family fun day, so please come along and join in the fun on the day. The after-race buffet and party will be at Ciss Ryan's and all proceeds from the race will go to Arra Rovers Football Club, so please come along and support your local club.
