Irish Kennedys Clan Gathering 2019

Kennedys from around the globe enjoyed a hugely enjoyable and informative get together from their base in North Tipperary recently.

Visitors from Australia, USA, Great Britain and many parts of Ireland enjoyed a wide variety of cultural events throughout the week. A visit to Brian Ború’s fort near Killaloe was followed by an informal get together in Rody Kennedy’s Angelsey Lounge in Rearcross for the launch of Brian Patrick Kennedy’s latest book, ‘The Dispersal of the Irish Kennedys across the Irish Republic from North Tipperary’.

A trip to the Dingle Peninsula to connect with our Kerry cousins, whose ancestors migrated from the Nenagh area in the 1800s, proved very informative thanks to the help of local historians Micheál Ó Cinnéide, Tomás Ó Cinnéide and Pádraig Ó Falbhaigh. Accounts of Ó Cinnéide families in the Dingle area were delivered by Lorcan and Dara Ó Cinnéide, while the bright sunshine ensured that the beautiful scenery was enjoyed at its resplendent best.

A guided tour of the Rock of Cashel including the magnificent Cormac’s chapel was rounded off with a highly entertaining night at Brú Ború. With many of our visitors taking the opportunity to visit their ancestral homelands around North Tipperary and to connect with distant cousins, the Irish Kennedy Heritage Group can reflect on a highly successful week in our continuing efforts to disseminate the rich history of the Irish Kennedys and to connect Irish Kennedys worldwide.
