Cahill pleased by ruthless approach to semi-final task

Tipperary manager Liam Cahill said the final scoreline in Sunday's All Ireland Under 20 Hurling Championship semi-final highlighted the respect they had for Wexford in the manner in which they put them away.

Scoring eight goals in a hurling game is rare and even rarer still is doing it in an All Ireland semi-final as Tipperary created and put away the chances when they presented themselves.

I think the scoreline reflected the respect that we gave Wexford,” Cahill began.

We really prepared well for the game and didn't allow ourselves to get carried away in any way, shape or form,” he added following the Munster Final victory just twelve days previous.

The early goals paved the way for the 22 point success, including three in a five minute spell between the 15th & 20th minutes which ended the game as a contest.

They were good goals,” Cahill added.

Created well by good hard running, taking on the man. These guys have the quality to put them away when they get the chances. What can I say, when the opportunities arise you can't but be happy that they took them.

Ruthlessness is the thing, when you get the chances you have to put them away. In fairness to the fellas, when the opportunities arose they went for them. You can't tell them not to take these chances when they're on, you have to take them. And that's what good teams do, they hurt you when they get chances like that.”
