Forde aims to build on bittersweet 2018

Tipperary senior hurler Jason Forde feels he and his teammates are itching to get going and right the wrongs of championship 2018.

The Silvermines clubman was one of the few bright sparks last year in league and championship, earning himself an All Star nomination but form him and the 39 other members of the panel, watching on as the championship played itself out through July and August in 2018 was particularly difficult and they don't want to experience that again.

Lads didn't really know what to do with themselves for a long while being out so early,” he admitted, speaking at the launch of the 2019 Munster Championships last week.

It took a while to come to terms with it but you have to use that as fuel and motivation to make sure it doesn't happen again.”

For all the ten counties in the Liam MacCarthy Cup, the new round-robin format was new to everyone, some dealt with it well, some not so well and Forde feels Tipperary are better prepared for it this year.

When we were in the middle of it last year you didn't really take much notice, you were just taking one day down and then get ready for the next."
