Earth march from Cloughjordan to Dublin to highlight climate breakdown

Two Cloughjordan residents, Aaron Bailey and Patrick O’Connor, are walking from their home in North Tipperary to O’Connell Street in Dublin, this week, arriving at the Spire at 1pm on Friday 19th April.

They are walking to highlight the dangerous effects of climate breakdown on humans and other species at home and abroad.

Starting on Main Street, Cloughjordan, they're walking to Roscrea, then onto Mountrath, Portlaoise, Kildare, Blessington and Dublin – a journey of nearly 100 miles.

“All species are threatened by climate breakdown”, says Aaron.  “We need to accelerate our actions as individuals, as companies, as governments. Radical change in how we travel, eat, shelter and clothe ourselves is essential. Politicians have to provide urgent leadership: they need to declare a state of climate emergency and inform the public properly about the seriousness of the crisis we face.”

Aaron and Patrick will be joining the Extinction Rebellion gathering in O’Connell Street on Friday 19th April at 1pm. They will walk in solidarity with others marching from all over the UK who will arrive in London on the same day.

They invite others to join them on their Earth March for some or all of the journey.
