Kearns laments growing list of injuries

By Cóilín Duffy

A defeat wasn't the only thing on Tipperary manager Liam Kearns mind, as he reflected on an ever dwindling squad after Sunday's loss to Armagh at the Athletic Grounds.

Entering the game already minus seven players, that number was added to with injuries for Kevin O'Halloran and Paul Maher, and a straight red card dismissal for Brian Fox.

"We are missing nearly 15 players now,” Kearns said.

We had 10 and three more today - Holly (Kevin O'Halloran) has done his shoulder; Paul Maher has done his ankle and Brian Fox has been sent off.

There's seven of our Championship starting team out. This is Tipperary football we are talking about. We are coming to Armagh, we have beaten Donegal; we are playing Fermanagh.

We lost two players coming in, Kevin Fahey (bereavement) and Jack Kennedy (Sigerson). That brings us over ten players out. We are down a team now at this stage, and that's the biggest worry coming out of here more so than anything else.

As I say the sending off is a huge blow as well, and that's the issue for us now.

"We had two debutants in there who found it tough enough going. Michael O'Reilly was only playing his third game. Our resources are stretched to the limit, and we were playing a strong Armagh team.”
