March start for senior hurling?

The first round of the 2019 North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship could take place on 30 & 31 March following discussions between the North Board officers and Tipperary County Board.

North Board Chairman Mike Flynn revealed the outcome of those discussions to delegates at a divisional board meeting in Nenagh last Wednesday night where he confirmed that championship games can be played on that weekend, should the Tipperary senior footballers fail to reach the final of division 2 of the National Football League which is scheduled for Sunday 31st March.

He also confirmed that the first round of group games in the County Senior & Intermediate Hurling Championships would be played on 6-7 April with the first round of the County Football Championships the following weekend. However, the quarter finals of the North Senior Hurling Championship could also be played that weekend, with clubs who have committed to entering the newly all-county football championships from senior to junior 'B', confirming they would play two games on that weekend, provided the hurling championship game was played first.
